"Whew What a Ride!" by Lorie Detter
by Jackie McDonald on September 23rd, 2020
by Lorie Detter I was a World War II baby. I grew up in a home with hard-working parents, but we lived at the poverty level. My church upbringing was very legalistic, and I worked hard to be “perfect.” I spent a lot of time with my grandparents. They impressed on me that getting saved was the goal, and I walked the aisle at age 8. The rules were many: no shorts, no makeup, no swimsuits, long dress...

Kacie Ticer explains: "A few weeks ago, Ben and I began kicking around the idea of pulling our Life Group together for a worship service. by Jackie McDonald on July 14th, 2020
Hi, my name is Chad. Not the Chad you may know of, heard of, met once, sat behind, beside, in front of or across from in church. Not the Chad you thought was standoffish, maybe arrogant, but certainly not warm or inviting.I hope after five years of attending HNW there are not many who would say they know that Chad, though I’m certain there are some. This is the Chad who didn’t talk to you out of fe...

by Jackie McDonald on May 5th, 2020
Dear Church Family,Over the last several weeks, your elders have worked to craft a plan that will chart a path for us to return to in-person ministry and worship at HNW. I’m writing today to share both the plan and some of the reasoning behind our decisions.Earlier this week we sent out a survey to hear from you, and you responded. We heard from hundreds of families. Meet Velvet Phillips
by Jackie McDonald on January 15th, 2020
HNW member Velvet Phillips works in the lumber industry and manages a radio station in New Mexico. The latter, she wasn’t expecting. “Every Christian is called, but you don’t know exactly how the Lord’s going to play it out in your life,” she said. When her dad got sick, Velvet acquired a radio station earlier this year that he was in the process of buying. “I tried to sell the radio station; I tried to give it away, and that never worked out for me,” she said. “So I go back to the essentials of, ‘My life is the Lord’s. Everything I have is the Lord’s; everything I have is to be used for the Lord and His purpose and his glory and his honor, so that being the case, why would this be any different?'”
