Ray & Sonja Farrell Scholarship Program

This scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current college students who are pursuing secondary education with a major in a Christian ministry discipline and a focus on using their education to advance God’s Kingdom. Eligible students are able to apply for this scholarship on an annual basis. 

The Ray & Sonja Farrell Scholarship seeks to help those who are called by God to serve the Lord and His church and to make His Gospel known to the nations. Our fervent prayer is that this scholarship fund will enable many men and women to follow in the Farrells’ footsteps, as they have imitated Christ our Savior. 

The Ray & Sonja Farrell Scholarship program was established in 2011 in honor of Ray & Sonja Farrell for their many faithful years of service to our Lord and His Church. The Farrells were among the founding families of this church in the early 1970s and have continued to be incredible examples for all who seek to follow Christ and to be an effective influence for God’s Kingdom.

Applications are accepted January - May annually. 

Scott Larson Jr. Memorial Scholarship

Spc. Scott Q. Larson Jr. was raised at Houston Northwest Church and was deeply involved in our kids and student ministry. He heroically gave his life in military service when his convoy was ambushed in Baghdad on April 5, 2004, two weeks before he was to go on furlough. While on the field, he was known for his Christian faith and had even arranged to baptize his sergeant upon his return. Scott led a Bible study for soldiers while in Iraq, spread his faith to his fellow soldiers, and felt strongly about becoming a military chaplain. Scott served as a bright light for Christ in a dark and desperate land. Our sincere prayer is that this scholarship fund will enable the next generation of men and women to serve as a light for Christ by funding future ministry and kingdom work.

A portion of the scholarship fund also fuels scholarships for kids and student camps each year. Camp scholarships are requested directly through our Family Ministry
