What is being voted on?
In accordance with the HNW Bylaws, HNW members attending church during the worship services in person will vote to affirm Pastor Philip Coleman as the next Senior Pastor of HNW Church, as recommended by the Council of Elders and the Pastor Search Team.
Are we choosing a Senior Pastor from a slate of candidates?
No, the only decision for HNW members to make is whether to affirm Pastor Philip Coleman as the next Senior Pastor of HNW Church. The Pastor Search Team (PST) spent months in prayer, discussion, and discernment, evaluating multiple candidates, and was led to one candidate for recommendation. After additional prayer, discussion, and discernment, the Council of Elders approved the PST recommendation. The PST and the Council of Elders were led by the Holy Spirit to unanimously recommend Pastor Philip Coleman for affirmation as the next Senior Pastor for HNW Church.
When does voting take place?
Voting will begin Sunday, August 23 ("Affirmation Sunday"), at the end of our 9 AM worship service when the special meeting is called to order, and will remain open until the end of our 10:30 AM service when the special meeting is called to a close.
How do I vote?
All HNW Church members will receive one electronic ballot by text message and/or email through ElectionBuddy.com. Ballots will be sent around the time the meeting is called to order following the first service.
How do I access my ballot?
Each member will receive a unique voting link via text message and/or email. The link is assigned specifically to that member and can only be used once.
What if family members share an email and/or phone number?
Each member will receive a unique link. When opening the link, check that the name on the ballot is correct before casting a ballot. For example, if you share an email address with your spouse, you will receive two links for voting. Each link is unique to the member.
Can I choose the language of my ballot?
Yes. Members can select their preferred language.
What questions will be on the ballots?
Question 1 | Are you worshipping in person at Houston Northwest church this morning? (Yes or No)
Question 2 | Do you affirm the unanimous recommendation from the Council of Elders and the Pastor Search Team for Pastor Philip Coleman to serve as the next Senior Pastor of Houston Northwest Baptist Church? (Yes or No)
How do I submit my vote?
After completing your ballot, select "Submit." You will receive a confirmation message after you submit your ballot.
What if I don't have a smartphone or have trouble submitting my vote?
HNW Elders and Staff will be available to assist you as needed to help you cast your vote.
When will results be announced?
Results will be announced shortly after the 10:30 AM service. We will give volunteers across campus time to make their way to the worship center, and parents time to pick up their kids, before we make the announcement.
Can I vote even if I'm serving and not in worship service?
Yes, as long as you are on HNW's campus, you can still participate in the vote.
