We know that the loss of family member is a difficult time and our desire is to support you during this season of grief. One of our pastors would be honored to officiate a Christian funeral or memorial for your loved one. Our team will partner with your family as well as any funeral home or cremation center you choose to plan and conduct a loving and memorable service at our church or at an offsite location of your choosing. Please use the following information to help in your planning process and feel free to contact us with any questions you have.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I arrange for an HNW Pastor to officiate a funeral/memorial?
The first step is for you or your funeral home to contact our Care & Counseling Ministry at [email protected] or 281.469.3389 to discuss your desired funeral/memorial time, location and other important information. This ministry will then identify an available pastor to officiate your funeral/memorial and schedule a family meeting with the pastor to plan the service.

What happens at the family meeting with the Pastor?
During this meeting, the pastor will ask about your desires and preferences for the funeral/memorial service. This will include any songs, Scripture, poems, eulogies or other special items that would be meaningful to your family. The pastor will also ask you to share favorite and funny memories and stories of your loved one.

Will the Pastor hold a brief committal service at a local cemetery?
While certainly not required, our Pastors will accompany your family to a local cemetery or mausoleum for interment of your loved one’s remains (with advance notice). If the committal will occur on a different day than the funeral/memorial service, additional arrangements may be necessary to ensure no scheduling conflicts exist.

Will the church offer a meal following the funeral/memorial service?
In most situations, we are able to offer a meal onsite following the Funeral/Memorial Service. HNW will coordinate setup, food, beverage, tables, linens, utensils, servers, cleanup, tear down, etc. Family and friends are also welcome to bring food dishes to the church during the hour prior to the funeral. We ask that all containers have the owner’s name and phone number clearly printed on them.

What is the cost for a Pastor to officiate a funeral/memorial?
HNW Pastors, as part of our ministry, plan and officiate funeral/memorial services for members without charge. If the service is going to be held at HNW, HNW will provide facilities also free of charge. If audio/visual is required, HNW will do it’s best to provide a staff tech person, however, if one is not available there may be a small charge to bring someone in to run tech.

Can we have a slideshow during the funeral/memorial?
If the funeral/memorial will be held at HNW, we have the ability to display a slideshow that you have created in either PowerPoint or ProPresenter software.

If you are providing a slideshow to us, the acceptable formats include: mov, mp4, DVD (the DVD must be formatted as a playable DVD for a DVD player, we are not able to use the data format computer DVDs).

If you would like for HNW to prepare the slideshow, please provide the pictures to be used to our Creative Arts Ministry office at least 2 days before the service.

Do you offer grief counseling and support after the funeral?
Yes. HNW offers counseling services as well as support from our trained Grief Share team.

What if I have more questions?
